Suddenly, Thomas went silent. Was this really a good idea? The resounding smack of Eli’s hand on his hack expelled any further thoughts and Thomas growled. He couldn’t fathom how the hell Eli manage to manipulate him into the situation… No, wait, I can’t blame my best friend for my own decision. With a sigh, Thomas managed to situate himself on a nearby chair and wordlessly thanked his friend for the sloshing drink over the bar counter.
With Eli’s cocky wink and a quick shot of the man’s liquor, Thomas grinned and downed his own drink. They barked in laughter, an inaudible challenge was made, and they slugged as many drinks as they could afford in their wallets--which was not that much apparently. Nevertheless, Thomas felt like he was floating, all the weight of nine years just gone. At least for tonight.
“Thomas? Thomas Thomas?” a strangely familiar female voice called out. Drunkenly turning at the surprised sound of his name, Thomas almost fell off his chair in shock. A scantily clad darker skinned female leaned lazily against the edge of the bar, hand placed sassily on her voluptuous hips. Her plump lips were painted a bright red, jutted out in a bored pout. Her eyes were dusted with a similarly debauched look. A neurotic hum bubbled in the pit of Thomas’ stomach at the woman’s intense gaze.
“That’s me alright,” he somehow managed to slur without drooling. “But who are you?”
The flapper flipped her shorter hair back, scoffing.
“Well I’ll be. Either I’m lookin’ absolutely fantastic without my usual maid uniform or you’ve drunk too much.”
Thomas reeled. There is no way…
“Sarah Jane Feldman?! By golly are ya sure that’s you?” Thomas eyed her dubiously. This bold flirt was nothing like the subdued, reserved shadow at work. Not that he was complaining at all though. The new look complimented her curvaceous figure well.
“Oh a hundred percent, Thomas,” she sang, walking her fingers up towards him and tapping his nose brazenly. “You’ve yet to see all the sides of me.” The slow smirk that had crawled across his lips did not go unnoticed by the daring female. A mischievous smile brightened her own face.
